Drainage
Avoiding Drainage Issues outside Your Home
When you begin to have water issues in the landscaping of your home, it may be time to consider a drainage system. Your acreage will need to be evaluated and then a system put in place to keep from having standard water or other issues in your yard. A professional gardening company will be able to assist you with this project or you may want to tackle it on your own, either way the steps are the same. Check out below just how a draining system can be installed in the home as a solution to water problems.
Determine the Issue
To get started, you will need to determine the actual issue. Where is the source of your water problem? You may have a slope that is approaching the home or a depression in the landscaping that is causing water to pool. Roof water drainage can be another issue. It is important to ensure your gutters are properly installed so that you do not have water emptying towards the foundation. Once you have determined the problem, you will be ready to start your installation. Be sure to contact the cable, telephone and electrical company to find out where wires and cables are buried in your yard to avoid any disruptions.
Digging
The next step is to dig a trend and a hole for the dry well and the overflow tube. The majority of the dirt can be hauled away but you will need some to remain to refill the hole. The water will be drained directly to the side port of the dry well after installation via drain tubing or you can link two or more dry wells together. You also have the option to use a top drain for areas that have small pooling of water. The drainage ports will need to be removed from the dry well before placing in the hole. The drain tube will need to be connected and you must ensure that you have sloping in the trench so that the water will drain properly.
Once the installation is complete, you can fill the hole back up. Save a little dirt in case the hole settles and you need more.
